Uganda Museum Guide
The Uganda Museum, located in Kampala, Uganda, is the oldest and largest museum in the country. Established in 1908, it showcases Uganda's rich cultural heritage through various exhibits and collections.

The museum is situated on Kitante Hill, after Mulago Referral Hospital, Plot 5 Old Kira Road, Kitante Cl, Kampala.

History
The museum was founded in 1908 by Governor George Wilson, who called for the collection of "all articles of interest" on Uganda. It has since become a premier cultural institution in East Africa.

The museum's collections include:

- Mammalogy: skeletons, skins, skulls, and fluid-preserved specimens
- Ornithology: over 1,000 bird specimens, including flat skins, stuffed skins, skeletons, eggs, and nests
- Herpetology: spirit collection of amphibians and reptiles
- Invertebrates: butterflies and moths
- Paleontology: vertebrate fossils, including the oldest rhino in Africa

Vision and Objectives
The museum's vision is to "sustainably manage the museum and monuments in Uganda." Its objectives include:

- Sustainably managing and developing Uganda's museums and monuments
- Promoting cultural heritage conservation through research and training
- Mitigating negative impacts of development on cultural heritage
- Promoting heritage awareness programs

Admission
The museum is open daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Admission fees are as follows:

- Ugandan adults: 2,000 Ugandan shillings
- Ugandan children: 1,000 Ugandan shillings
- Non-Ugandan adults: 5,000 Ugandan shillings
- Non-Ugandan children: 1,500 Ugandan shillings
- Still camera: 5,000 Ugandan shillings
- Video camera: 10,000 Ugandan shillings
